Easy Room Decor Ideas For Kids

By LUMOSX

Are you looking to spruce up your child’s bedroom? Maybe add something that reflects their personality? While kids can be fickle and they may want to change up their room decorations according to what they like at the moment, it wouldn’t be hard to find the right decorations once they’ve made a decision. The trick is to not only use decor that will fit your child’s personal space the way they like it, but also to coordinate it in such a way that it doesn’t bother their usual activities, like sleeping or playing. If you need advice, you’ve come to the right place! We at LUMOSX are dedicated to providing light and happiness to children through products that inspire and bring comfort. Here are some of our ideas for decorating your child’s room that are easy and hassle-free.

Glow in the Dark Stars

A classic among children! Who wouldn’t want to be able to relax under a myriad of stars and fall asleep under their shine? This is especially fitting for kids who have a fascination for astronomy and like to stargaze whenever they can—now you won’t have to wait for clear nights in order for them to enjoy the wonders of the night sky! Our advice is that you could paint the room a darker colour, and arrange your stars into real-life constellations on the ceiling and walls to make your child’s own personal planetarium. Oftentimes you’ll also find different sizes of stars and even a large moon in a pack of glow in the dark decorations; ours also includes a bonus e-book on constellations! It can be a fun bonding activity with your child to pick which stars go where on the ceiling and walls. Whatever formations you choose to stick on, it’ll be sure to enthrall your child’s imagination every night when they go to bed.

Dreamcatchers

Is your child having nightmares? While it can’t be helped that kids think up the weirdest things, sometimes these thoughts can stay in their head long after they’ve stopped actively thinking about them, and carry on into their subconscious at night. It creates some really scary—or maybe just really strange—dreams! If your child is great at positive thinking, you could hang up one or more of these beautiful weavings in their bedroom, add a soft pastel wall colour and fluffy clouds to accompany the dreamlike immersion, and tell them it’ll help to keep the nightmares away. Of course this is sort of a placebo effect and may not always work, but even on their own, dreamcatchers can have wonderful sentiment and meaning attached to them. There are so many special patterns in their weaves and feather arrangements, and we’re sure that they could encourage your child to be optimistic about their nighttime adventures!

Night Lights

Another favourite of many kids, night lights are a great thing to have if your child is nervous about the dark, or just likes the soft glow these lights can bring. Night lights come in all kinds of configurations nowadays—rather than just having a plain old bulb on the nearest outlet, why not try a special shape or projection night light? Maybe it’s the shape of your child’s favourite animal by their side as they sleep, or a pattern of a planet slowly spinning. Maybe it’ll throw up images of your child’s favourite cartoon characters, or a rendition of the starry night sky. However, some night lights can also be too intense for your child, which might make it harder for them to fall asleep. If your child chooses to have a projection night light, our recommendation is to try a soft or neutral wall colour that’s not too bright or too dark, so that it won’t interrupt the images being projected throughout the room. As long as it brings a comforting atmosphere, it will no doubt be a lovely choice.

Wall Decals

Maybe your child feels uninspired by a plain wall in a single colour, and wants a special pattern or image that can’t be easily done just by painting their room. For this we propose wall decals! Decals can come in numerous arrays of whatever your child can think up, and are a very smooth process compared to the complications of drawing an intricate image with paint. Does your child want to be in a forest, or a garden, or space? Get a pack of wall decals to go with the suitable wall paint! Make it green and add deer and birds and squirrels; paint it pink and use flower bouquets and butterflies; colour it blue and have the planets and moons surround the room. With the right decals, it would be easy to satisfy your child’s imagination without having to wait for the image to dry or negotiate the details with the person drawing it.

And that’s all we have for this article! However, we know imagination can be infinite, and there are many more great ideas out there for easy ways to decorate your child’s bedroom. Perhaps these recommendations helped you to think about what your child would want in their room, or inspired new thoughts for how to decorate other rooms as well! Here at LUMOSX, we strive to bring light into children’s lives, and we have a mission to do that not just for the children you can see everyday on the street, but also for the children we cannot see, who need help in other parts of the world.
